Students apply for this spring semester program mid-way through the fall semester. Sacramento interns serve as interns in California State government and non-profit organizations active in state level political processes and policy. Internship positions can bring students into contact with legislators, policy researchers, lobbyists, and executives and leaders of the variety of health, educational, legal, environmental and social organizations and associations engaged in the governance of one of the largest economies in the world.
Interns are placed in challenging positions and augment their experiences with attendance in academic seminars which help them interpret their findings, and which brings them into contact with policy makers and civic actors at all levels. The typical Sacramento Intern receives 8-12 units of credit for the combined experience, and can combine the internship with additional studies on Pacific’s Stockton campus. Transportation is provided for internships and seminars, and the Sacramento Experience includes a subscription to the Sacramento Bee for the semester.
